World Environment Day 2021: Five Ways to Conserve Natural Resources at Home

05 Jun 2021 . 09:35 AM

Celebrated every year on June 5,

World Environment Day is a reminder about how extremely necessary it is to conserve the planet and nature. In order to lead our lives, consumption of natural resources is important, but if we learn to use them in a sustainable way, a healthy environment can be maintained and we can leave behind a healthy planet for our future generations.

It's not important for every one of us to make comprehensive plans or huge investments to conserve nature. We can also do so while carrying on with our day-to-day life but including some environmentally friendly habits in our lives.

Here are some incredibly simple habits we can inculcate in our lives to save our environment, with or without wearing a green cape:

Every drop counts

(Representational Photo: Shutterstock)

Every individual should try washing only full loads of laundry. If you take a bath using a shower, keep a bucket below it so that the extra droplets are collected in the bucket. You can use it to water plants. While brushing teeth, it's important to turn off the faucet in order to conserve water.

Stop eating red meat or reduce it

(Representational Photo: Shutterstock)

According to the Environmental Working Group, red meat is responsible for nearly 40 times as many greenhouse emissions as vegetables and grains. If those grains that are fed to livestock are fed to people, about 800 million more humans could be fed. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, red meat must be replaced with high-quality plant protein.

Stop food wastage

(Representational Photo: Shutterstock)

In order to reduce food wastage, plan your weekly meals and buy foods that are only mentioned on your shopping list. If there is a portion of leftover food, you can store it in an airtight container and refrigerate it. The next day, you can reheat your food and consume it.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

(Representational Photo: Shutterstock)

Reduce usage of plastic silverware, straws and paper plates and splurge on bottles, BPA lunch packages and mason jars that will last. Make sure to carry some reusable bags so that you do not have to carry your shopping items in a plastic bag given by the store. In case you are still filled with enough plastic bags and water bottles, you can reuse them to store household items or throw away the garbage.

Start gardening

(Representational Photo: Shutterstock)

Gardening is not only a great hobby but is also a huge step in order to conserve environment. Grow flower plants for birds, bees and other pollinators. You can also harvest your fruits and vegetables so that you get a healthier substitute for the ones you get in the market. This hobby will also save you money.

Write interesting & innovative  ways & mail your composition today at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Open for Classes 4th onwards!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dear Parents

As you know that our students are studying online these days and they have to use mobile phone to access their studies. Giving mobile to a child can have its pros as well as cons also. So you are requested to keep an eye on your child's mobile activities by just following these 2 simple steps :

Go to Settings -->digital well being - - >dashboard.

So please go through the dashboard and you can see all the applications your child has used for the whole day and how much time he/she spends in watching each application. Little check on your ward can bring desirable results & it's worth.

Regards

“The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night”

H. W. Longfellow

The GNMPian faculty had a very creative and productive schedule on May 10, 2015 (Second Saturday) when it was a holiday for the students but an Enhancement-Day for the teachers. Around 155 teachers were divided into various groups and different kinds of workshops had been designed.

The teachers teaching English, as many as 34, attended a very sensational workshop organized by The Oxford University Press where the resource person Ms. Shweta Arora taught the teachers how to hone up four necessary skills- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing by presenting interesting activity- material and live demo. It was a very eventful experience for the teachers.

The rest of the teachers had been in various classrooms, preparing the chapters of their concerned subjects and writing the answers just like the students.

Apart from this, the teachers took one more test  (value based) just to refresh the universal values which are not only to brush them up but also to be inculcated among the students through the so-called nation-builders i.e. our teachers.

GNMPIANS COME FORWARD FOR CHARITY TO HELP THE FLOOD- VICTIMS OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR

Oct 4,2014

Who had ever thought that Mother Nature will  cast her furious eye and spell so much destruction on the heavenly land of Jammu and Kashmir state? The paralyzed life of the natives of Jammu and Kashmir in flooded state reminds us of the verse from S.T. Coleridge’s, Ancient Mariner : “Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink”.

Man’s thoughtless and selfish drive causes such natural disasters and victimizes the innocent ones. But alas, man does not realize and is on the move with the  sword of lust and accumulation of more and more wealth.

At this sad moment, the GNMPians express  their concern and collect charity fund for the flood victims.

The amount shall be sent to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for the C.M.’s relief fund.
